Partying at Louisville’s Strange Brew HQ

This is why you should never drink heavy….. Irish Whiskey, Scotch, beer, moonshine, beer and a few other things…………………………………..

Who is most drunk? A clue…. he writes for the website!

Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona

Chun gach mo chomhghleacaithe Gaeilge Meiriceánaigh, Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona. Inniu an lá mór a bheith bródúil as ár n-oidhreacht mór. Daoine as gach cultúr ar domhan sa lá atá inniu ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar ár lá speisialta. Inniu, tá gach duine ar bheagán Gaeilge, nó mar sin deir siad. Tonn Let s na bratacha na hÉireann, deoch go pionta agus scéal ard nó dhó a insint.

Níl níos mó ná ól inniu. Sa lá atá inniu faoi cairdeas. Roinnt scéal le daoine eile. Ag insint scéalta grinn agus cúpla a fheiceáil aoibh gháire ar an duine ar aghaidh. Agus ar ndóigh, tá cúpla pionta beorach na hÉireann. Nó a lámhaigh nó dhá cheann de roinnt uisce beatha Gaeilge mhaith. Just a cuimhnigh, cairdeas maith is tábhachtaí.

Bíodh spraoi agus a lán deoch. Bí sábháilte agus tuiscint coiteann a úsáid lá atá inniu ann. Ná deoch agus tiomáint. Ná lig chairde tiomáint atá ar meisce. Sa lá atá inniu tá thart ar spraoi. Ní Spraoi chiallaíonn go bhfuil easpa de chiall is coitianta. Ní lá atá inniu ann fiú a chailliúint do cheadúnas, a bheith gafa nó marú duine éigin nó tú féin. Ní lá atá inniu faoi ar féidir leo a ól an chuid is mó, blacking amach nó DUI ar. Sa lá atá inniu mar gheall ar an Harp, Shamrock agus Glas, Bán agus Óir.

My favorite pictures

Since I took down tons of pictures on here, I have gotten emails asking to put some up. Fine, I will. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the past few years. Enjoy.

Here I am fresh back from Ireland in 2010 (see shirt). With me are my friends Shannon and Kelly. No offense to my friend Shannon, doesn’t she look hot in that hat? BTW, I survived a few nights in Dublin. Millions of brain cells did not.

Halloween 2010. Besides Brett (The Penguin), no one is sober in this picture.

I was 20, maybe 21 here. Man I was good looking once. What happened?

Ireland 2010, again. My favorite thing is next to me. Her name was Rosie O’Sullivan. Lovely and I can still hear her beautiful accent like it was yesterday. O’Sullivan means “dark eyed-one” in Irish. This beautiful angel did have dark eyes.

dating

Aww, Shannon and Kristen with me, with Shannon’s husband in the background. Both married, both lovely and I’m still a nerd.

I’m no thug. I’m not ghetto. My alter-ego “T-Bone With A-1”, well, that’s a whole different story. Yes, the gun is real.

It was New Year’s 2013….. I have no clue what’s taking place here. I was on beer #16 along with tons of Bourbon already down my throat.

My favorite person from work with me one night at the Highlands Taproom. Emily beyond beautiful like always!

Halloween 2012. Gilligan’s Island. We came in 2nd. Rigged ass contest.

Sad….. my last night in Ireland 2010. This was me along with some of the staff from the Arlington Hotel. These people were beyond nice and showed me true hospitality. I never felt home sick due to them and I almost didn’t want to leave. If Rosie O’Sullivan would have been mine, I would have never left……

Even though I was not in this picture, this is beautiful to me. This was Ireland. This is where my DNA came from. The forefathers of my dad came from here. I am proud of that. Seeing Ireland firsthand was a dream come true. My dad never got to see Ireland. I made it a goal in life to do so. It was even better than I ever dream it could have been. I am proud of my short-tempered, whiskey drinking, folklore believing, hatred of the British, lover of red-heads and Celtic DNA.

Where did the name “Strange Brew” come from?

I have gotten probably 100 emails asking why our site is called Louisville’s Strange Brew. That is the most asked question I get from fans (and enemies). The name is actually something I came up with some 15 years ago. There is nothing special about the name.  I’m a nerd and I picked the name in the nerdiest way possible.

In 1998, some friends and I created “Strange Brew”, a local public access show which ran for two years. The show was known for its vulgar language, pranks and stoner humor. The cast included guys named Steven Crawford, James Sayre and David Hanes (yes, my ex Liz’s brother) along with me as the main cast. The show was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.  It sucks that I have lost or damaged all the tapes I owned. I contacted David a few months back to see if he had any tapes, but he would not answer me due to the lies from his sister.

(no, the name was not taken from 80’s cult classic, “Strange Brew”)

Months before we started our show, we recorded hours’ worth of skits. We didn’t go public sooner because we couldn’t agree on a name. One day while in my room I was looking through Cd’s and came across one my brother-in-law Bill had gotten me. It was a greatest hits album by Cream called “Strange Brew”. I told the guys “Let’s call the show Strange Brew,” and oddly they agreed. A few weeks later Strange Brew aired on channel 98 and the IQ of Louisville went down about 5%.

Last year I decided to create a horrible local website. Once again I could not think of a name that I liked. I finally picked Louisville’s Strange Brew. I didn’t want to simply call it “Strange Brew” out of respect of the former cast. That was our show. This is my website so I wanted something somewhat different. Louisville’s Strange Brew is now over a year old and doing well. I have stuck to my roots and haven’t sold out.

(we have nothing to do with Strange Brew Beer, located in Louisville)

See, nothing special about how I came up with the title. It was from my teen years. That was a fun period of my life. I am too old to dodge Roman Candles, be thrown off of cars that David is driving or stealing giant balloon Easter Bunnies. I’d rather sit safely behind my computer and write horrible, vulgar and childish things. Safer for my health and not as dumb as the TV show. Strange Brew has been some of the best times I’ve ever had in my life. I hope my website for those who read it is half that enjoyable.

(this is where I stole the name, “Strange Brew” from)

The People we lost in 2012

I lost a friend named John Gilson. He was a Navy vet, good pool player and cool person to talk to. He always gave  me good advice. John was as real as they came. He left us way too soon.

Michael Carr was a close family friend. He was a very even-tempered person who never had anything bad to say about anyone. One bad choice ended his life.

We lost Michael Clarke Duncan.

We lost Andy Griffith.

We lost Gen. Borman Schwarzkopf

We lost Neil Armstrong.

We lost Dick Clark.

Recap of my year #4 – Things I wish were different

Jessica – I wish she would not get mad over the dumbest things. I wrote an article and posted a comment about Casey Anthony, calling her sexy or something. Yes, I believe this bitch killed her kid. Anyways, Jessica went off about this and stopped talking to me. Jessica was the first love of my life and someone I trusted to this very day. I miss talking to her.

Ashley – Years ago I messed up a great thing. This year for some reason, I thought of Ashley more than normal. I wish I knew something about her. I haven’t seen or talked to her in years. I wish she was my friend. I just want to look her in the eyes and ask her to forgive me for all I did.

Liz – I grew up with her. Dated her. Made love to her. It sucks someone you know is still wasting their life with stupidity. Drug use has ruin a once beautiful smile and one hell of a sexy pair of legs. Sad a pretty and smart girl has no common sense. What a waste.

Working too much – I enjoy the money. I love my job most of the time. Sometimes I feel I work way too much and I’m not there for my friends the way they are for me. I know they don’t see it that way, but I do.

Recap of my year #2 – my friends

John – Besides being a U of L fan, he’s been my best friend since age 14. He is like a brother to me. There’s no telling how many hours I’ve spent talking and hanging out with him in my life. John has always been there for me. He’s one of the nicest people anyone could ever know.

Brett – He’s John’s younger brother. Take everything I said about John and just repeat it. Without Brett, I would have been arrested for no telling how many DUI’s or even worse, dead.

Shannon – I’ve only known her for three years. She is by far, one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life. I talk to her about things I hate talking to my guy friends about. She goes out of her way to be a friend and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her, her husband or her family.

Kathy – She is Shannon’s mom. Since Thanksgiving is held at a family member’s home I don’t go to, I have ate at her place the past three years. She treats people like family. I enjoy being called “Son of bitch” or “My bitch” by her every time I see her.

Steve – I met him at work back in 2009. He pissed me off last time I saw him, but still a loyal friend. He drove me home a many nights while I was drunk and saved my ass when a whore ex left me out in the freezing cold once.

Josh – We lost touch for years. We started hanging out again in 2011. Josh is a great guy and father. He makes me laugh probably more than anyone I’ve ever met.

Ryan – We hardly hangout or talk these days. Yet, Ryan has always been a loyal friend. I even dedicated “Woody Long” blogging name in his honor. He influenced my sarcasm and comedy style.

The Clemons’ Family – This is Shannon’s and Kathy’s family. Tommy, Sally, Tammy, Keith, Kevin and Sam are all great people. If I lost my parents tomorrow, I would still have a family. That is how this group of people make you feel. I have never seen a family so close or one that treats outsiders like family the way they do. They are a great group of people.

I have other friends. The people named above are the ones I see most, talk to the most and spend the most time with. Don’t feel left out if I didn’t name you.

Seven people deleted me from Facebook due to the UK/UofL game lol

Was I making U of L jokes before, during and after the game? Of course I was. Were friends of mine making jokes bad mouthing UK? Of course they were. You know how many people I deleted? None. You know why? It’s a fucking game. U of L is the better team. Big deal. Life goes on. I still love my friends who are U of L fans. John is still my best friend. I still love my two nieces who are U of L fans. Yet, seven losers deleted me because I hurt their feelings. Aww, so sad.
