“Absolute shock, I couldn’t possibly believe that this was the way it is,” said Curtis’ friend, John Markham.

Curtis is an orphan turned financier turned philanthropist. But now, the 63-year-old is a federal suspect, accused of stealing from the very charity he helped create.

Curtis founded Kentucky Harvest in 1987. The non-profit takes unused food from restaurants and other food suppliers and gives it to those in need.

It spawned USA Harvest and Blessings In A Backpack, and Curtis helped bring both to life.

On Wednesday, he was charged with seven felony counts of mail fraud, money laundering and filing false tax returns.

Prosecutors said from 2005 to 2007, Curtis stole more than $183,000 in donations that were supposed to go to USA Harvest.

They also said Curtis failed to report more than $550,000 in personal income from the non-profit, including $370,000 in travel expenses he charged to the group, but used for his own meals, entertainment and travel. “I just don’t believe most of this stuff. I don’t believe that Stan would do that,” said Markham. “Stan was a giving person, a loving person.

Replacement NFL Refs blow another call – fire these losers

Full story here

The inevitable replacement ref disaster finally happened Monday night when the Seattle Seahawks were awarded a last-second touchdown on a bizarre Hail Mary scrum in which Green Bay Packers safety M.D. Jennings came down with an interception that was somehow deemed to be a Golden Tate game-winning reception. That score gave Seattle an eventual 14-12 victory.

“That was two of the worst calls at the end of a football game that I can remember,” an incensed Jon Gruden said on ESPN.

Tate had also blatantly pushed off a Packers defender with two hands before making his disputed catch. At no point did he ever appear to have possession of the ball. Jennings told reporters that he had it the whole time and Tate barely had an arm on it. How did that clear catch go from a Packers interception to a Seahawks touchdown?

Here’s how it went down: The players went up for the ball and Jennings grabbed it first. He came down with it and pinned it against his body. Tate had a hand on it too, but Jennings clearly had the pass. The official with the best view of the pile (at left) looked down at Jennings pinning the ball to his chest and appeared to wave his hands over his head. It looked like he was set to signal a stoppage of the clock and a touchback. But the other official ran in, saw his colleague’s arms about to move and put his own arms up to signal a touchdown. Based on the many camera views ESPN had of the pile, that official (No. 26) couldn’t have seen which player had possession. His signal looked like it was an instinctual reaction to the other official moving his hands.

My Favorite Video Game Systems of All-Time

Please feel free to share yours. I know no two people agree. These are my personal favorites.

5. Play Station 2 (PS2)

The PS2 took what the PS1 did and made it better. It also paved way for the PS3, which in my opinion, is the best system currently on the market. The PS2 also could play CD’s and DVD’s which made it even more kick ass!

4. Sega Master System

Most Americans do not recall this system. It was more advanced than the NES. The music, graphics and controls were normally better than the NES. Sadly, due to the lack of 3rd party game-makers, the Sega was a complete fluke in the USA. It was very popular in South America and Western Europe.

3. Sega Genesis

I never did own one. But I sure played the hell out of them. Sega always made better sports games than the NES in my opinion. I believe the Sega Genesis changed the way systems took pride in making sports games. The influence of the Genesis can still be seen today.

2. NES

I debated over and over if I should rank this number 1 or 2. I finally chose number 2. The NES changed gaming for ever. The NES created countless great games and countless video game legends such as Mario, Link and Little Mac (from Punch-Out) to name a few. What bad can you say about this system? The NES should be on everybodys top 5 list.

1. The Super NES

The Super NES took everything the NES did right and made it better. It took PC games and brought them to your video game system with better graphics, game play and music. The Super NES made great Role Playing Games, great Sports Games, great Action Games and great racing games. One hell of a system.
