Joel Marzian – Louisville’s Strange Brew “Man of the Year 2012”

With a list that included the man with the world’s biggest cock, James Rolfe and Ron Jeremy, this was no easy decision. It took hours of research, reading fan mail and heavy drinking to pick Joel Marzian as our Man of the Year. Joel Marzian is a living legend (mostly myth) who has taught me much wisdom in the few years I’ve known him. Below are just a few of those words of wisdom.

“Being a true gentleman requires one thing. Always spit on your hand before making the woman take it up the ass.”

“There’s no such thing as being too drunk. It just means you ran out of beer.”

“Who said paying for a hooker is illegal? It’s only illegal if you’re caught in the act.”

What more needs to be said? Congrats to Joel Marzian, Louisville’s Strange Brew “Man of the Year 2012”.

The People we lost in 2012

I lost a friend named John Gilson. He was a Navy vet, good pool player and cool person to talk to. He always gave  me good advice. John was as real as they came. He left us way too soon.

Michael Carr was a close family friend. He was a very even-tempered person who never had anything bad to say about anyone. One bad choice ended his life.

We lost Michael Clarke Duncan.

We lost Andy Griffith.

We lost Gen. Borman Schwarzkopf

We lost Neil Armstrong.

We lost Dick Clark.

Highlights of my Year 2012

UK Wins 2012 National Title – This was their third National Title in my lifetime. This one meant more because I got to see UK win two games in the NCAA Tournament with my father.  Instead of going out with my friends the night they beat Kansas, I watched it with my father. That was priceless.

We beat the Rapture and the Mayans – Jesus wasn’t ready to call me to Heaven and the Mayans are losers. God bless and I will see you all in 2013!

Simple, but fun vacation – I stayed home for vacation. Twice I got to bar hop with my friends Shannon, Keith and Kathy. I don’t recall much but I’m pretty sure I had fun. That’s why I’m writing about it.

Halloween Party – My friends and I went as the characters from Gilligan’s’ Island. We came in second in this very “fair” contest.

I tried – I gave me ex Liz a chance, twice. I really wanted to see her change. Sad that such a beautiful girl is wasting her life. At least I tried doing the right thing. I feel better knowing I did.

Hot girl – I got to make love to a hot girl. I won’t name her out of respect for her family. Damn she looks good.

New Hangout Place – What’s better than the Highlands Taproom? Simple, the Highlands Taproom Grill.

Favorite Album of 2012 – Babel by Mumford & Sons

All rap sounds alike…

I hate pop music….

New Country is beyond horrible….

Even today’s rock music sucks….

Mumford & Sons took bluegrass, Celtic and folk music and made it mainstream. After their awesome debut album in 2010, I figured their second album would be a complete flop. Man was I wrong. I love this album. It’s even better than their first album. This album should win “Album of the Year”.

New TV Crushes of 2012

We all know I love Ashley Judd and Michelle Beadle. This year I discovered more TV crushes. Here are the women I fell in love with in 2012.

Ashley Broad. She is a normal lady. Not an actress. I love me some Ashley.

As a nerd, why wouldn’t I love Penny from the Big Bang Theory?

I don’t even watch this show. But Max from Two Broke Girls (also from the 40-Year-Old Virgin) is smoking hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recap of my year #4 – Things I wish were different

Jessica – I wish she would not get mad over the dumbest things. I wrote an article and posted a comment about Casey Anthony, calling her sexy or something. Yes, I believe this bitch killed her kid. Anyways, Jessica went off about this and stopped talking to me. Jessica was the first love of my life and someone I trusted to this very day. I miss talking to her.

Ashley – Years ago I messed up a great thing. This year for some reason, I thought of Ashley more than normal. I wish I knew something about her. I haven’t seen or talked to her in years. I wish she was my friend. I just want to look her in the eyes and ask her to forgive me for all I did.

Liz – I grew up with her. Dated her. Made love to her. It sucks someone you know is still wasting their life with stupidity. Drug use has ruin a once beautiful smile and one hell of a sexy pair of legs. Sad a pretty and smart girl has no common sense. What a waste.

Working too much – I enjoy the money. I love my job most of the time. Sometimes I feel I work way too much and I’m not there for my friends the way they are for me. I know they don’t see it that way, but I do.

Recap of my year #3 – regrets

Not listening to my mom – When I was a teen, my mom warned me about my ex Liz. I didn’t listen. When Liz and I dated in 2009, my mom was cool and mostly kept her mouth shut. When Liz tried getting back in my life earlier this year, my mom warned me. I didn’t listen. Liz is a mess and a complete waste of time. Mom does know best.

Fighting with my friend Shannon – We have clearly patched things up. We went nearly two months without talking earlier this year. During that time a close friend of hers and a friend of mine, John, died. I can’t recall what I said to him last. That sucks.

Working things out with my ex Liz – I tried twice. Both times a complete waste of my time. I have nobody to blame but myself. She is a terrible person and pathological liar. Nothing more needs to be said.

Getting to know a girl at work – A girl asked me for my number at work. What a nut-job. I will never try talking to a girl at work ever again.

Meeting a girl from the internet – I know this is common these days. It’s not for me. I met this cute redhead named Lindsey. What a lying bitch. Took her out a few times. She is one of those girls who whine how bad men treat them. Yet, they lie to a decent guy like myself. Two weeks of my life wasted is better than six months – a year of my life wasted.

Recap of my year #2 – my friends

John – Besides being a U of L fan, he’s been my best friend since age 14. He is like a brother to me. There’s no telling how many hours I’ve spent talking and hanging out with him in my life. John has always been there for me. He’s one of the nicest people anyone could ever know.

Brett – He’s John’s younger brother. Take everything I said about John and just repeat it. Without Brett, I would have been arrested for no telling how many DUI’s or even worse, dead.

Shannon – I’ve only known her for three years. She is by far, one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life. I talk to her about things I hate talking to my guy friends about. She goes out of her way to be a friend and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her, her husband or her family.

Kathy – She is Shannon’s mom. Since Thanksgiving is held at a family member’s home I don’t go to, I have ate at her place the past three years. She treats people like family. I enjoy being called “Son of bitch” or “My bitch” by her every time I see her.

Steve – I met him at work back in 2009. He pissed me off last time I saw him, but still a loyal friend. He drove me home a many nights while I was drunk and saved my ass when a whore ex left me out in the freezing cold once.

Josh – We lost touch for years. We started hanging out again in 2011. Josh is a great guy and father. He makes me laugh probably more than anyone I’ve ever met.

Ryan – We hardly hangout or talk these days. Yet, Ryan has always been a loyal friend. I even dedicated “Woody Long” blogging name in his honor. He influenced my sarcasm and comedy style.

The Clemons’ Family – This is Shannon’s and Kathy’s family. Tommy, Sally, Tammy, Keith, Kevin and Sam are all great people. If I lost my parents tomorrow, I would still have a family. That is how this group of people make you feel. I have never seen a family so close or one that treats outsiders like family the way they do. They are a great group of people.

I have other friends. The people named above are the ones I see most, talk to the most and spend the most time with. Don’t feel left out if I didn’t name you.
