Top 5 Best Sports Bars in Louisville

  1. Hooters in St. Matthews – Overrated food and drink prices. Then, again, who cares when you are surrounded by hot girls dressed like sluts?

  1. Krazy Dave’s – Nobody in Louisville would agree. I picked it because there’s always room; enough TV’s and most bar goers will watch sports elsewhere.

  1. Roosters in Middletown – Cheaper than B-Dubbs with tons of TV’s and specials throughout the week.

  1. The Brickhouse – Hot girls and unlike Hooters, good food and tons of great imported beers.

  1. Buffalo Wild Wings of St. Matthews – Great bar staff and the best managers in Louisville. To this day, best wings in town!

Top 5 Best Sandwiches in Louisville

  1. Jason Deli’s Chipotle Pot Roast – A giant portion of savory pot roast covered with a delicious chipotle sauce. One word – awesome.

  1. Tony Bombozz’s the Veggie – I am no vegetarian, however, I would be if all vegetarian food tasted this good.

  1. The Irish Rover’s Lamb Burger – Decent price and not overly gamer due to the mix of beef. Best medium rare with blue cheese.

  1. The Brickhouse’s Lamb Burger – A little pricey but excellent. 100% Lamb meat with no beef. The goat cheese is awesome.

  1. Diorio’s Philly Cheese Steak – Finally, a Louisville restaurant that can actually serve one correctly! None locally even come close to this one.

Americans are getting fatter every year, according to Trust for America’s Health F as in Fat report

Back in 1991 no states had obesity levels over 15%.

Today Colorado is the only state with obesity below 20%. Another 12 states have levels over 30%.

By measuring state obesity against population, we calculated a 0.5% increase in national obesity compared to last year’s report. That’s equivalent to 1.54 million new obese Americans in a single year.

Meanwhile adult diabetes increased in 11 states. Hypertension has also increased over the past 20 years. In 14 states the number of adults who said they do not exercise increased.

The states with the highest obesity level are mostly in the South.

What’s in a chicken nugget?

The second nugget was only 40 percent muscle, and the remainder was fat, cartilage and pieces of bone.”We all know white chicken meat to be one of the best sources of lean protein available and encourage our patients to eat it,” lead author Dr. Richard D. deShazo of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, said.”What has happened is that some companies have chosen to use an artificial mixture of chicken parts rather than low-fat chicken white meat, batter it up and fry it and still call it chicken,” deShazo told Reuters Health.”It is really a chicken by-product high in calories, salt, sugar and fat that is a very unhealthy choice. Even worse, it tastes great and kids love it and it is marketed to them.”The nuggets he examined would be okay to eat occasionally, but he worries that since they are cheap, convenient and taste good, kids eat them often. His own grandchildren “beg” for chicken nuggets all the time, and he compromises by making them at home by pan-frying chicken breasts with a small amount of oil, deShazo said.NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Stand-up comedians have long joked that some things, like the actual components of chicken nuggets, are better left mysterious.

Recently, Mississippi researchers found out why: two nuggets they examined consisted of 50 percent or less chicken muscle tissue, the breast or thigh meat that comes to mind when a customer thinks of “chicken.”The nuggets came from two national fast food chains in Jackson.

The three researchers selected one nugget from each box, preserved, dissected and stained the nuggets, then looked at them under a microscope. The first nugget was about half muscle, with the rest a mix of fat, blood vessels and nerves. Close inspection revealed cells that line the skin and internal organs of the bird, the authors write in the American Journal of Medicine.http://news.yahoo.com/just-chicken-nugget-131533269.html

Drake’s of Louisville

Last week I took a date to Drake’s of Louisville, located in St. Matthews. I had never even heard of this place before I met this gal. Anyways, I took her since it was one of her favorite places to eat. To be honest, the sushi there was good. Drake’s was actually a decent place for dinner.

Drake’s is a nice size bar, right in the heart of St. Matthews. They have around 15 beers on draft, along with different sizes to choose from. They have a sushi bar along with tons of bar food. My date loved sushi and I like it. We started out with fried chicken dumplings. They were excellent. I am not sure what the dipping sauce was, but it rocked. I tried white tuna rolls along with veggie rolls. Both were pretty good. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but not bad at all.

I ordered a Guinness. They poured it in the typical pint glass. I must admit, it was decent. Some bars have no clue on how to hook up a Guinness keg correctly, more less pour one correctly. I would give their pour a 7.5 out of 10. It’s no Irish Rover pour, but I’ve had much worse. My only disappointment was the fact they had a sign for BBC Bourbon Barrel and yet, they didn’t have it on tap.

Late nights the bar turns into a nightclub. By looking around at the crowd there, I doubt this would be my type of bar. It was your typical trendy bar geared toward the ages of 21-25. I could care less about their “house” music and watching pretend tough guys drinking their fruity drinks. I’m a man. I prefer some Dropkick Murphy while sipping some Irish Whiskey or Scotch. Just saying.

Overall, I would give the place an 8 out of 10. That’s only judging the early dinner hours, price level and the food. Like I just stated above, I highly I doubt I would like the “clubbing” scene of Drake’s. The place is worth checking out. Do yourself a favor and try the fried chicken dumplings.
